How I Work with Couples Before the Wedding
Planning a wedding is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming—especially when it comes to photography. My goal as your wedding photographer is to make the entire process feel easy, personal, and fun from the very first message. I’m here to guide you, answer questions, and build a relationship so that on your wedding day, you feel completely comfortable and excited in front of the camera.
Here’s exactly how I work with couples before the big day, step by step.
1. The First Contact – Quick and Personal
When you reach out (through my website, email, or Instagram), I reply within 10–30 minutes, even on evenings or weekends. I want you to feel heard right away.
I’ll send you my current pricing guide, package details, and check my availability for your date. No automated responses—just a warm, personal note from me.
2. The Consultation – Getting to Know You
We’ll schedule a relaxed consultation as soon as it suits you—over Zoom, phone, or in person at a cozy Edmonton café if you’re local.
This is our chance to connect. I’ll ask about your story: how you met, what you love doing together, your vision for the wedding, venue, guest count, and any worries (like feeling awkward on camera). You can ask me anything—about my style, how I handle rain or low light, timeline tips, or favorite local spots.
By the end, you’ll know exactly what to expect, and we’ll see if we’re a great fit. There’s never pressure—I want you to choose me because you feel excited, not obligated.
3. Booking – Simple and Flexible
If you decide to book, it’s straightforward: a signed online contract and a $100 deposit secure your date. The remaining balance is due on the wedding day itself—no big payments upfront that add stress.
Once booked, you’re officially part of my calendar, and the planning fun begins.
4. Ongoing Communication and Support
I stay in touch throughout your engagement. You can message me anytime with questions—about timelines, outfit ideas, or even vendor recommendations.
A few months before the wedding, I send a detailed questionnaire covering:
- Your full timeline draft
- Family formal shot list (I help keep it efficient)
- Must-have moments or special details
- Any cultural or personal traditions
This helps me prepare thoroughly and tailor everything to you.
5. The Engagement Session – Building Comfort
We choose a meaningful location—perhaps where you got engaged, a favorite park, or even your home. It’s relaxed, fun, and feels like a date. I use gentle prompts to bring out your natural connection, so you see how easy and joyful it is.
By the end, you’ll feel confident on camera, love how you look together, and trust my guidance completely. This session is the #1 reason couples feel relaxed and natural on their wedding day.
6. Final Planning – Fine-Tuning Everything
About 2–4 weeks before the wedding, we have a final planning call or meeting.
We review:
- The full timeline (with buffers and golden hour priorities)
- Weather contingencies
- Family shot logistics
- Any last-minute changes
You’ll feel fully prepared and supported—no surprises.
7. My Promise Throughout
From day one, my focus is on you feeling:
- Heard and understood
- Excited rather than stressed
- Confident that every important moment will be captured beautifully
I’m responsive, organized, and genuinely invested in your story. Many couples become friends by the wedding day because the process feels collaborative and caring.
Pre-wedding work isn’t just logistics—it’s about building trust so your photos reflect the real you: relaxed, in love, and joyful.
If you’re planning your wedding and want a photographer who makes the journey before the day as wonderful as the day itself, I’d love to connect. Reach out—I can’t wait to hear your story and start this adventure together.
